Summer Opportunities at YCSD!

Summer programming at YCSD is an opportunity for scholars to help with transitioning to the next grade level, earn credit recovery, and participate in enrichment activities that promote learning.

For Elementary Schoolers

Success by 6 Programming

Summer programming for Success by 6 is for currently enrolled preschoolers who will attending a Youngstown City Schools kindergarten next year.

Students must be 5 on or before September 1st to register for Kindergarten.

Current 3rd Grade Scholars Invitation only June 3rd-June 30th

Summer programming for 3rd grade scholars is by invitation only. This summer camp will focus on assisting scholars who have not yet met the 3rd grade reading guarantee and this year scholars will have dedicated math time as well!

For Middle Schoolers in Grades 6-8

6-8 Grade Middle School Summer Camp: June 3rd-June30th

Why Come to Camp? This isn't a typical school...

You’ll get to be a chef, music artist, writer, money manager, survivalist, overcomer, and creative writer!

For High Schoolers in Grades 9-12

9-12 Grade High School Credit Recovery at Wilson: June 3rd-June30

Summer programming for high school allows scholars who have previously failed a course the opportunity to recover credit that is required for graduation. Scholars can only recover ELA, Math, Science, or a Social Studies course.

For our ESOL Scholars OCCHA Summer

Serving ESOL scholars who are between the ages of 5 and 12 :

Summer programming will have daily activities, language enhancement, field trips, and cultural enrichment!

High School Credit Recovery

High School Credit Recovery

  • Dates Time: June 3rd-June 30, M-F, 8:30-12:30

  • Who: Currently enrolled in a Youngstown High School

  • Description: Scholars who previously failed and need to recover core credit in Math, English, Science, or Social Studies for graduation

  • Where: Wilson, 2725 Gibson Street

  • Transportation: Parent/guardian or public transit

  • Registration Link: High School Credit Recovery

  • Meals Provided: Breakfast and lunch

Middle School Summer Camp

Middle School Summer Camp

  • Dates and Time: June 3rd-June 30, M-F, 8:30-12:30

  • Who: Currently enrolled 6-8 graders

  • Description: Daily activities and learned skills such as cooking, music, writing, money management, and more!

  • Where: Wilson, 2725 Gibson Street

  • Transportation: Will be provided to scholars who are outside of the 2 mile walk zone and are registered by May 15th.

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Day Camp at OCCHA

  • Dates and Time: July 7-July 31, M-H, 9:00-2:00

  • Who: Currently enrolled ESOL scholars between the ages of 5 and 12

  • Description: Daily cultural enrichment, creative activities, language enhancement, and field trips!

  • Transportation: District transportation (yellow bus)
