Transportation Updates for the 2024-2025 School Year

High School Transportation

Due to the regional and national bus driver shortage, the district will no longer offer high school transportation (except those with transportation as part of their Individualized Education Plan). High schoolers have the option of utilizing the WRTA. Visit https://bit.ly/WRTAHowToDownload to for instructions on how to download and use the free MyStop mobile app for bus route information

New My Ride K-12 Mobile App

The free My Ride K-12 mobile app will replace My Stop for YCSD (this is different than MyStop for WRTA). Scan the QR code to download the app or visit myridek12.tylerapp.com to get started. Families must input their scholar’s StudentID to register, which can be found on FinalForms, and older report cards, or Progress Book. Progress Book also shows busing information.

Walk-Zones for K-8

My Ride K-12 Mobile App

As per Ohio law and YCSD policy, if a bus rider lives within a reasonable distance of their school, they are considered a walker. Bus riders in grades K- 8 will receive transportation if they are in more than a two-mile walk zone, the maximum permitted by state law. Exclusions only apply to those with transportation listed in their IEP.

Progress Book

  • Families can now view busing information in Progress Book! https://parentaccess.access-k12.org. Your scholar’s bus number and pick-up/drop-off times are in the schedule tab. Transportation information will appear above the scholar’s schedule of classes.

    K-3 Scholars

  • Scholars in grades K-3 must have an adult present to exit the bus. Parents/guardians can sign an authorization to make other arrangements, such as allowing them to walk home with an older sibling. If no adult is present, scholars will be taken to our office and must be picked up from there. Repeated incidents may result in removal from busing and a referral to Children Services.

Delays, Closings, Bus Changes, or Cancellations

  • If a change in your scholar’s bus route needs relaying, our transportation department will send a text message. This alert goes out to the cell number we have on file. During inclement weather, notices will go out through district-wide robocalls and media outlets.

 YCSD Walk Zone Update

  • As per Ohio law and YCSD policy, if you live within a reasonable distance of your scholar’s school, they are expected to walk to school. The walking distance for K-8 is two miles. Due to this policy, some scholars who received transportation in the 24-25 school year may be required to walk to school.

 Updated Contact Information

  • Any changes in contact information must be updated through FinalForms.

Please reach out to your school’s Parent Engagement Coordinators first to resolve busing questions before contacting the Transportation Department. Thank you for entrusting us with your scholars!
